It was back in September last year that some good friends announced their decision to get married in Venice on 4th February this year. I, of course, offered to provide my floristry skills along with some of our finest scented roses and herbs and our friends were delighted to accept. It's now Tuesday 3rd February and I'm writing this post onboard our flight to to Venice. Yesterday, with the heaviest snowfall in the last 19 years. it seemed unlikely that we'd make it this far. I phoned my lovely friend, the bride, and she was putting on a brave face despite the fact that only 2 of the 32 invited guests had managed to arrive in Venice and, with more snow forecast, it was looking unlikely that any more would make it! This morning, with the snow still falling, I carefully packed the scented roses and herbs into my red holdall. With no idea as to whether we would make it to Heathrow, let alone to Venice, we set off down the steep driveway which had become a blackrun overnight! The sun came out when we reached Guildford on the A3 and we realised that we were in with a chance. After only a 1 hour delay at the airport, our flight took off with the little red holdall filled with its precious cargo safely ensconced in the overhead locker.....
