If a wedding is on the cards this year, now is the time to begin thinking about flowers. We’ve noticed a shift towards natural and sustainable options which makes us very happy here at The Real Flower Company because it’s what we’re all about. Most of the flowers and foliage we use are grown on our own sustainable farms, retaining all the beauty and scent that nature intended.

We also have a team of skilled florists here to help you choose the perfect flowers for your day, however you decide to celebrate it. Our florists can also create bespoke arrangements to grace and enhance your venue.  We will provide and arrange flowers for wedding events of any size, from gatherings in the garden to bigger events in barns, halls and elegant country houses. Table and window decorations, floral arches, pedestals and wreaths are all part of our repertoire and we love to be set a creative challenge.

We have a range of bridal bouquets which are designed in various colour palettes and styles for you to choose from, with complementary bridesmaids’ bouquets and buttonholes.  This year our Sugared Almond and Everlasting Love bridal bouquets are proving popular in our wedding collection as is Vintage Romance. We have bridesmaids bouquets, buttonholes and even something for the most faithful of family and friends.

SOME OF OUR FLORAL INGREDIENTS

Roses

Roses have featured at weddings since Greek and Roman times when they were associated with the Aphrodite and Venus, their respective goddesses of love and they are still one of the most popular wedding flowers today. We grow a wide variety of scented English roses during the summer months here on our Hampshire farm and our sister farm in Tambuzi provides us with sustainably grown roses all through the winter which means we have beautiful roses for you all year round.

Here we have Rosebie's beloved Margaret Merril, Chandos Beauty and Whiter Shade of Pale, all scented and grown on our UK farm during the summer months.

Some wedding rose favourites from our Kenyan farm are Kiera, Cream Yves Piaget and Juliet. Their sheer beauty and perfection make them a popular choice in bridal bouquets.

Sweet Peas

We grow gorgeously scented, long-stemmed sweet peas in all the classic sweet pea colours at our farm near Chichester. Darling of the English country garden, the nostalgic and evocative sweet pea is always a favourite for spring and early summer weddings. They add movement to a bouquet, providing a natural and informal, just-picked feel.

Peonies

The English Peony season is relatively short from late spring to early summer making their short visit all the more precious. Their tumbling, multi-petalled blooms are rich and voluptuous and give generously in wedding arrangements. Our peonies are grown on our Hampshire and Chichester farms and so if you want English peonies you will just have to arrange your wedding around them!

Herbs

Herbs have a natural and fresh appeal, adding colour, texture and fragrance to arrangements and bouquets. We grow a wide variety here on our Hampshire farm and also on our sister farm in Kenya.

Daucus, Scabious & Ammi Magus

Romantic and ethereal flowers for shape and contrast.

Hydrangeas

In many ways an ideal flower for wedding flower arrangements and decorations. From frothy clouds of palest pink or cream to bold and colourful stems of pure architecture they always complement their setting. Our Hydrangeas are grown on both our Hampshire and Chichester farms and enjoy a long summer season.

GREEN & WHITE WEDDING FLOWERS BY SEASON

Green and White weddings have a timeless and classic elegance, they are uplifting yet modestly restrained, combining beauty and charming simplicity.

Floral trends come and go but a green and white colour palette never seems to date - especially a green and white floral theme that embraces seasonal flowers. There is something so beautifully timeless, elegant and fresh about a white and green colour scheme for wedding flowers - and the style of floristry and choice of blooms can take it from classic right through to wild and natural. We offer both ‘ready-to-wear’ wedding flowers, which can be delivered throughout most of the UK or bespoke wedding flowers. Our personalised wedding flowers are created for you either by the team in our London flower shops or the florists on our Hampshire farm workshop, who can work on weddings and events anywhere in the UK.

As sustainable English flower farmers and florists our aim is to let the flowers do the talking and we pride ourselves on the flowers we grow, which are brimming with natural character and that all-important ingredient, scent. You can browse our ‘ready-to-wear’ wedding flowers collection here which includes: bridal bouquets, bridesmaid’s posies, buttonholes, flower crowns and floral displays for your venue. Our readymade wedding flowers are perfect if you want to enjoy the impact and style of our seasonal and scented flowers but do not want the extra cost of a full bespoke service.

Here we have shared some of our favourite white flowers by season for inspiration. All of our flowers are grown on our British Flower Farms or our sister farm in Kenya. Our Hampshire Flower Farm has completes regular carbon audits and is now both Carbon Negative and Climate Positive, it also holds a LEAF Marque for sustainable farming practices. Our Kenyan farm operates to the highest possible social and environmental standards and has achieved a Gold Standard as part of a pioneering UN environmental initiative. So when choosing The Real Flower Company you can be confident about the provenance and sustainability of your wedding flowers.

SPRING

Our scented English Peas are grown naturally under glass in our dedicated West Sussex nursery and it is often the white and ivory Sweet Peas that are the first to bloom. English Sweet Peas lend themselves so beautifully to a British wedding with their unique shape and exquisite scent. Ruffled Ranunculus and eye-catching Anemones are also popular choices for weddings and Foxgloves and Lupins can add height and drama.

Spring is also the time when English Lily of the Valley comes into bloom, and is even more special because of its fleeting season. These perfectly formed bell-shaped flowers, with their heady, unmistakable scent are always such a pleasure for our team to work with, knowing the joy they will bring.

It is during the summer that our scented English roses take centre stage including Margaret Merrill - the rose that inspired our founder Rosebie Morton to set up The Real Flower Company. Margaret Merrill makes the perfect centrepiece for wedding flowers with her understated but beautiful form, ivory blush petals and unforgettable scent. There are so many beautifully textured and aromatic herbs that perfectly compliment a green and white colour scheme including different varieties of Mint, Sage, Geranium, Dill, Silver Lavender and Basil.

WINTER

Our partnership with Tambuzi - our sister Kenyan farm puts us in a unique position to offer sustainably grown, carbon neutral scented roses throughout the year. Tambuzi have been chosen as one of a small number of growers of David Austin’s cut roses for weddings and events and we are David Austin’s chosen UK florist for bouquets. Brides often request David Austin’s quintessential white English rose Patience. David Austin’s new rose Leonora, a cupped cream rose with beautiful ruffled blooms, is also proving popular. Vitality, White O’Hara and Jeanne Moreau roses also work beautifully with a white and cream colour scheme. Then layering spray roses such as Alabaster, Exclusive Sensation and Snow Ballet adds interest.

Early in the year scented English Paperwhites are in bloom. Hellebores, Hyacinths, Ranunculus and Anemones can also be found in shades of white and cream.
