As we head into the colder mornings, darker evenings and familiar crunch of leaves underfoot our sustainable farm in Hampshire takes on a different colour palette.
Some of our roses are still producing beautiful blooms, especially the delicate and fabulously scented Margaret Merrill but looking around the flowers and foliage everything has taken on the gorgeous hues of copper, orange and red with spikes of purple.
Thursday 12th October is National Farmers Day so a big thank you to Rob our Farm Manager, Rosie and Biff (pictured below with Rob) and his team for bringing in the daily picks. Everything from our farm is picked freshly to order so it reaches you in peak condition.
Rosehips
Our Rosehips are really stunning at this time of year, ranging from small to large in hip size and varying in length. If you can be brave and don a pair of sturdy gloves they are a great addition to any arrangement with their pin points of bright red berries.
English Rosemary
The delicious aroma of English Rosemary paired with roses and foliage is a delicious combination and until the first frost arrivers it is growing in abundance on the farm.
Dried Rose Petals
Rob our Farm Manager has been busy drying rose petals this year. He has perfected the drying process so that the petals retain their gorgeous colour and size with a delicious rose fragrance. As our English roses begin to rest for the winter we will have tubs of English dried petals to adorn festive tables and perfect for bio degradable confetti.
Eucalyptus
On our sustainable farm we grow six different varieties of Eucalyptus, their delicate silvery branches add movement to any design and look wonderful paired with white, blues and pink.
Dahlias
We grow Dahlias in abundance of every colour and shape from small round heads through to the cactus shapes and to the large and beautifully formed Café au Lait. The Dahlias are collection only as they are too fragile to transport packed in a box but we would love to see you if you would like to collect your order.
Our sustainable English Farm still has plenty to offer, especially flowers, foliage and herbs. Our Fairtrade Kenyan farm grows large headed scented garden roses including a wide range of David Austin roses available to order all year round. Our trade team would be happy to help you with any orders or queries you may have. The Real Flower Company have also just launched a Trade website, you can now shop at any time of the night or day to suit your needs, just go to www.realflowers.co.uk/trade and apply for an account.
