rockett st george christmas treeRockett St George’s brilliantly curated online homeware emporium is a fabulous Aladdin’s cave of Christmas decorations that dare to be different. Queens of quirky Jane Rockett and Lucy St George set up the company a few years ago after they met at a fancy dress party and discovered they both loved hunting through car boot sales and antiques fairs to find unusual treasures for their homes. They believe that interior design can suggest any emotion and the products they design or select are aimed at people who want to express themselves creatively through their surroundings. We asked them for their top five tips to help your home say festive fun this Christmas!

1. First Impressions Count

When it comes to decorating your home for Christmas, first impressions count. So make the door and hallways a decorating priority. A beautiful wreath on your door is an absolute must, then deck the halls with garlands (see The Real Flower Company’s wonderful collection of Christmas wreaths and fresh garlands), snake ivy down the staircases and create a maximalist look with ourHanging Iridescent Pinwheel Decorations. The more the better in our opinion!

2. Dress what you already have

To create a festive wonderland in the home, dress your furniture, ornaments and artwork for an eclectic and fun-filled display. Light up nooks with light chains, tie honeycomb paper decorations to the staircase and embellish and adorn your ceilings with mistletoe and pinwheels.

3. Inject Humour. Christmas is all about making the people you love smile.

So humour is absolutely essential when it comes to Christmas decorating! At RSG we are the queens of quirky, so quirky tree decorations such as golden pig and palm tree hanging decorations or a disco ball tree topper are a must! We also love dressing up ornaments such as putting Santa hats on gnomes or creating a humorous display of two unicorn ornaments locking horns.

4. Light it up.

Twinkling lights set the Christmas mood in a home, so really go to town with the light chains! You can weave light chains around typography signs, artwork, on houseplants, down staircases and you can even suspend your Christmas wreath up high and wrap a light chain around it for a glowing display.

5. Create a centrepiece.

You've decorated your entire house, so don't forget to create an inspiring and beautiful table setting that will delight and excite your guests! To draw the eye, create a centrepiece with a beautiful wreath (see The Real Flower Company’s fabulous Christmas centrepieces here). Then embellish and accessorise with mini baubles tied to napkins, gold-dipped feathers, pinecones, clip-on birds and holly leaves to dazzle your guests. Don't stop there – why not wrap greenery or even light chains around the chairs? Finish off the look with candles and stick to low lighting for an atmospheric and festive feel.
