This autumn we’re going to be opening the doors to our second London shop on New Kings Road, Parsons Green. It will be bursting with sustainably grown flowers and foliage from our farms which our talented team of florists will be on-hand to craft into beautiful arrangements for same-day London delivery and events. We’ll also be offering a unique selection of gifts and homeware, workshops and more! Can’t wait? Stop by our original London shop at 13 Cale Street, London SW3, or order a bouquet online for same-day London delivery.
Each month our team of expert florists design a birthday bouquet inspired by the month’s birthstone and birthflower. Celebrating a birthday this September? Sapphire is this month’s birthstone and Aster is September’s birthflower. Aster is a wildflower that represents love and wisdom. In Greek mythology, the goddess Astraea wept as there were so few stars in the sky. When her tears fell to the ground, they turned into star-shaped Aster flowers. For this month’s bouquet, our florists have combined lilac Asters with seasonal flowers in purple and sapphire.
“Keep cutting flowers to extend their season,” advises our flower farmer and founder Rosebie. “Annuals that have come to an end can be removed and the ground weeded ready for sowing autumn seeds. Many hardy annuals can be sown directly into the open ground where they are to flower next year. Some of my favourites are Calendula, Centaurea (Cornflower), Clarkia, Echium, Linaria and Nigella. September is also the time to get the soil ready for planting out biennials next month. Make sure it’s free from weeds and add some well-rotted manure and a little bonemeal to improve the bed.”
Dine among roses with one of our table centrepieces. Choose from one of our vase trios and expect three expertly arranged posies of scented roses and seasonal flowers delivered ready to place straight on your dinner party table. The three glass vases are then yours to keep (or gift to your guests). Choose from whites and greens, perfect pastels or wild luxe tones.
Artist Natasha Jade visited us on the farm last summer and was inspired to paint the blooms we grow. She wanted to make the flowers feel alive and “do the talking”. Her watercolour and gold-leaf paintings have been translated into a beautiful set of six cards which you can discover here.
