At The Real Flower Company, we are passionate about roses – which is why
Sophie Conran’s Christmas table, decorated with posies of red and peach roses, rang a Christmas bell with us. Sophie’s crisp white Lingonberry or Winter Rose table linen provides the perfect backdrop for Christmas flowers and greenery, and we also love her seasonal recipes – from her exquisite take on traditional mince pies to a winter sangria that will warm up any party. Here the designer, cook and mother of two has offered to share with us her tips for creating the perfect Christmas table.
How are you planning to style your Christmas table this year?
Christmas is the time to get really carried away with decorating the house and I love to festoon all the mantelpieces, windows and the table with swags of gathered foliage. For the table, the foundation is our table linen embroidered with lingonberries. I’ll be adding elegant charger plates for a sense of occasion as well as masses of flowers – always a fantastic feature both for their colour and of course for their fragrance. I will also have as many candles as I can fit down the center to bring that magical glow to the room and to lend sparkle to the glassware. I’ll always be sure to have plenty of water in beautiful jugs, both still and sparkling with lemon or cucumber and lots of ice for us all to help ourselves from between sips of champagne from charming coupes. Crackers of course – we have two beautiful designs this year that I am really proud of. I think our sparkle crackers will go particularly well with
The Real Flower Company’s Nordic Table Wreath. The best thing around my table, though, is my family, all dressed up and ready for the chatting, joking, feasting and merriment.
What is your favourite arrangement from The Real Flower Company’s Christmas Collection?
My favourite arrangement
from the gorgeous Christmas Flower Collection has to be the wonderful crisp and clean Nordic Table Wreath. I love the classically elegant combination of large creamy-white blooms and tiny star-like flowers, with the soft powdery green of the eucalyptus giving the whole wreath a frosted look. With short winter days and long nights, it is sure to bring lightness to the home, and its neutral colour palette works beautifully in any surroundings. My husband is Scandinavian, so it’s definitely the perfect choice for our Christmas table.
